Self-catering home with splendid views of the valley in the direction of the sea. Gracious balcony for aperitifs, fireplace for romantic evenings, multi-language library, free wifi, ideal home for those seeking a safe, comfortable, beautiful holiday home in a historic town. National Archaeological Museum and other attractions nearby such as the cities of Rome, Tivoli, Castelli Romani and Valmontone, or the countryside and forested areas for nature walks and cycling.

Altavista is near many local attractions (in addition to Rome) such as museums, historic villas, amusement parks, thermal baths, cinemas, restaurants, riding stables and outlet shopping centers. The beaches of Lazio are about an hour and a half away, while quiet hiking paths are just steps away in the Apennine hills behind the house.

All furnishings at Altavista were carefully chosen to make guests feel at home; this means there are high quality embroidered bed linens, fluffy towels, antique beds with new mattresses and pillows to ensure a good night’s rest. A fully equipped kitchen and nearby mini-market make meal planning easy, and the washing machine allows for clothes washing at no extra cost. Samples of products are provided at the beginning of the week and include dish washing detergent, clothes washing detergent, makeup remover, toilet paper and paper towels. In the kitchen there is always a supply of coffee and tea in addition to table linens, dish towels and a Brita water filter. The “hidden” drawer inside the table has sharp knives, scissors and bottle openers.

In the living room, there is an extensive collection of multi-language books and travel guide books for Lazio and Rome, CD’s and DVD’s for guests to use during their stay.  There are also toys and books for small children. Digital TV offers many channels for all tastes and ages. Free wifi!

Important: Please do not leave the house unattended with the windows or doors open. In winter the heat is programmed to run 24 hours a day, please do not tamper with the heating program (contact owner if program changes must be made). Please do not smoke in the bedrooms or bathroom. The hot water in the bathroom is activated by a switch on the wall at the entrance; please remember that this is not a light switch and if you push this button, you will not have hot water in the shower! There is a hairdryer and iron/ironing board on premises for your use. All appliances work properly; should you have any problems, notify the owner immediately. In Italy only one electrical appliance can be used at a time; should the electricity go out because two appliances were used at the same time, you will have a copy of the key which opens the electrical box on the outside of the home’s entrance where the electricity can be turned on again. For any problems with water pressure, hot water or heat, please contact the owner immediately. There is a hospital in Palestrina and English speaking private doctors are available if necessary. Rental payment will be requested upon arrival; documents will be requested from each guest and a rental contract will be filled out and signed by both owner and guest. There are several free parking areas nearby and a disabled parking spot right next to the entrance of the house, however the street is very narrow and difficult to drive through unless guests have a small car such as a “Smart”. Altavista’s owner will accompany you directly to the house and assist you with your luggage at the time of arrival. Parking lots are free, but about a one minute walk from the house; guests who have mobility problems might find this a difficult place for their holiday.
